Everybody wants to talk about marketing.
I once ran a test to see which headline worked best.
The first headline was “Here’s 6 Steps to More Profits.”
The second headline read “Here’s 6 Steps to Better Marketing”.
The second headline outperformed the first 2 to 1.
Everyone wants to talk about marketing. But what’s more important? Profit or leads?
I like profit.
Leads are just one of the inputs to get more profit. Marketing is important. It’s just not the first thing to work on when looking for more profit. Marketing costs money and time.
So where should you start? I’d recommend that you start with “margins”.
In his book “Instant Cashflow” my friend Brad Sugars outlines 65 strategies to increase your margins.
A few of the quickest and most effective of these strategies are:
• Raise your prices
• Stop Discounting
• Sell more of your better (higher margin) products
• Make some of your fixed costs variable
• Buy in Bulk
Everybody wants to talk about marketing. Isn’t it smarter to be talking about profits?
Start with “margins”.
