When he was growing up, one of my clients lived in the same neighborhood as Dr. Seuss.
He told me that he and the other neighborhood kids would ride their bikes to the Seuss house, knock on the door and ask if Dr. Seuss was reading today.
On his reading days, his wife would let the kids in and he would read his stories to them.
How good is that? Hearing Dr. Seuss from Dr. Seuss.
A lot of people think that Dr. Seuss was a children’s writer. I believe Dr. Seuss was also a business writer.
My Dad’s favorite book when we were growing up was “Green Eggs and Ham”. I’m pretty sure he just liked the fact that the message was to try new foods, like spinach and broccoli.
But there is really a bigger message. Try new things-period.
In business, when it comes to implementing a new strategy; we make our best judgment based on experience, etc.
But we really don’t know if the strategy will work or not-if we will like it or not. We have to try it, test and measure, and then adjust.
What would you try if you knew you couldn’t fail?
Go try some new strategies. Test and Measure. Adjust. Success is right around the corner.
And while you are at it, pick up a Dr. Seuss book off your shelf, and see what business lessons are there for you.
Until next time…
All the best!
